With thriving innovation communities, a broad base of established research centers, and decades of increasing return on investment from licensing activity, SIU has established a reputation as a leader in research, development, and commercialization. SIU’s researchers and scientists are respected experts in their fields, making important contributions to basic and applied research in areas such as environment, energy, materials science, agricultural biotechnology, biomedicine, and cognitive science.

The Office of Technology Transfer partners with exceptional entrepreneurs, companies, organizations, and economic development engines to leverage SIU research to improve lives across the globe. In addition to helping faculty identify and engage with appropriate business partners for technology commercialization, we also facilitate industry-university research relationships through the negotiation of nondisclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, and other important legal and administrative tools.
